Facebook has announced its beta for ads in Messenger which was initially launched in Australia and Thailand, is expanding to all markets. Now brands can target ads to show up in Messenger of the 1.2 billion monthly users of the app.
The ad looks the same as you see in the News Feed, a headline, description, image and a call to action. It is displayed on the homepage tab of Messenger and is labeled as “Sponsored”. When people tap on the ad, they will be taken to the destination which was chosen during ad creation.
The Messenger Ad is available in Ads Manager as well as Power Editor. If you have been using or use Automatic Placements option, the ads will start on Messenger if it is the supported campaign objective.
Things to note:
– Can be accessed via Ads Manager or Power Editor.
– It is included by default if you have chosen Automatic Placement
– Available only for traffic and conversion campaign objectives. Facebook has stated that other objectives like App Installs will be rolled out soon.
