Businesses often launch social media marketing campaigns without setting a clear objective. The key to building a successful social media presence for your business is creating a digital strategy. Social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram have become the front facing part of the company which means great efforts needs to be taken to build a community of followers.

1. Bad graphics.
Low resolution or out of focus images are the biggest turn off for the tech-savvy generation. Buy images from stock sites like Fotolia or Adobe and hire a graphic designer to edit them according to the business needs. Uploading good quality well thought out images is winning half the battle in social media. Delete the older posts which had bad graphics and start again!
2. Frequent posts
Very frequent posts on social media does not help and becomes the reason behind low reach and engagements. Every platform has a different optimal frequency which needs to be followed for best results. As of 2017, the optimal posts for Facebook is one per day, 15 tweets per day for Twitter and 11 pins per day for Pinterest.
3. Infrequent posts
Coming from the second point, infrequent posts are more common among businesses. Posting once a week decreases your reach and engagement drastically besides not creating a branding among followers. Create a monthly plan for your social media accounts and stick to the schedule to get the maximum out of your social media platforms.
4. Not running paid campaigns
If you are advertising on Facebook, it is difficult than ever before to build a fan following without doing paid campaigns or boosting the posts. Facebook has limited the organic reach which means your posts are not seen by every follower that is following your page.
5. Paying for fake followers
Buying followers does not help you increase your ROI. Buying followers is different from creating campaigns on Facebook or other social media accounts. There are many websites that promise millions of followers for a few hundred dollars. These are spammy or bot followers which actually decrease your page quality.
6. Irrelevant and excessive hashtags.
Hashtags help businesses get more visible and increase reach. However, #using #too #many #irrelevant #hashtags doesn’t help and looks annoying! Use targeted hashtags that your target market is using. For e.g. an e-commerce company selling clothes should be using hashtags like #fashion, #ootd etc. instead of putting hashtags around each word.
